Sharon Morris
Sharon Morris was born in West Wales and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL, where she currently teaches. Her artwork revolves around the relation between words and images, and includes film, installation, and live performance.
Her poems have appeared in several journals and anthologies, including Tying the Song (Enitharmon), A Room to Live In (Salt) and The Forward Book of Poetry 2008. Her first collection, False Spring (Enitharmon, 2007) was commended by the Forward Prize and short-listed for the Jerwood Aldeburgh Prize for the best first collection, 2007. Her set of poems ‘Songs of the Aveyron and the Ariège’ are to be found in the Long Poem Magazine, summer, 2009. Sharon has been awarded a Hawthornden Fellowship for autumn 2009.
