“In a world of blogs, iPods and txt-speak, six of the most talented young writers speak out.”

Following the highly acclaimed anthology, published by penned in the margins and edited by Tom Chivers, Generation Txt undertook a 14-date tour of the UK.

Hand-picked from a nationwide search for writing talent, the poets in the anthology include former Northern Young Writer of the Year, Emma McGordon and celebrated performance poet Inua Ellams, as well as Joe Dunthorne, whose debut novel Submarine is forthcoming in 2008. Natural Sciences graduate Laura Forman, creative writing student Abigail Oborne and experimental poet and text artist James Wilkes complete the bill of this celebrated collection.

The following recordings were made at the Midland Arts Centre, Birmingham on June 1st 2007.

Generation Txt at the MAC

Joe Dunthorne

Joe Dunthorne is a graduate of UEA. He has been featured on Channel 4 and in The Guardian, and his mini collection Reactions 5 is available from Pen and Inc Press. His first novel Submarine is forthcoming in 2008 from Hamish Hamilton.

Inua Ellams

Inua Ellams is regular performer on the London scene. His first collection Thirteen Fairy Negro Tales was published by Flipped Eye in 2005. He is also a graphic artist, even designing the cover of his first collection, and freelance journalist for Junxion. Inua has also appeared at Glastonbury and Latitude Festivals and Tate Britain.
